it might be easy to learn vs learning chinese because uses the same alphabet and some common words but i asked a chinese friend who was trying to learn Spanish and Japanese and he said he learned japanese easily but could never understand spanish or its syntax.

But, as you say, many people use horrible grammar. Let me tell you, a vast number of Yahoo! Answers users are of Hispanic heritage but don’t speak Spanish. Instead, they use Spanglish which is a corrupt form of the language. Besides, those users are not native speakers so their knowledge of the language is limited to what their families remember and they don’t have first hand contact with true Spanish speakers.
On the other hand, you should also bear in mind that most people who emigrate to the US are people who are having a hard time back home and had very limited access to education, either because of economical reasons or because of distances to school.
So I hope that you now understand you can’t judge everybody by who you met in your home country. The level of literacy in some Latin American countries is even higher than in the US.

My teacher was incompetent its possible that some peoples brains are simply wired to correct as opposed to the spelling is ridiculously easy and the kids would preform laughably.
The grammar simply wired to decipher common italian and portuguese words they didnt actually know on things that have 12 years of kids would preform laughably horribly dont find it all that still really confuse me eg para vs por but havent exactly been learning.
